0282 – 4 Reasons Why I Am Switching from 45 ACP to 9mm and Why You Too Should Make the Change

This podcast is a little bit painful to post. You see, for the past two years I have been eating crow as I made the switch from .40 S&W to .45 ACP. Just about the time I was really getting into my groove with the my Templar Custom Arms Glock 25.5 chambered in .45 ACP I’m going to make another switch. Yup, I’m making the switch to 9mm. I have a Caracal F that I have been testing (more videos coming early next week if things go well) and I will probably have a couple of 9mm Glocks built up in the next month. I will be testing those guns heavily in the next few months and one of them will be replacing my Trusty Glock 25.5.

0279 – What is a Professional Defensive Shooting Instructor?

I work very hard to be the best, most professional instructor that I can be and it is a process of continual growth and effort.  The problem is that professional means something different to each person out there.  There is a movement to make the definition a bit more concrete.  I am pleased that the industry in moving in the direction of self-regulation as this will provide more opportunity to provide input from within the industry as opposed to from the outside.  Today we will talk about one portion of that movement and what it means to me.

At the request of some listeners we are going to step out of chronological order and bring to you the last interview I conducted in Vegas at SHOT Show 2012.  I have at least 5 interviews still to come, and probably more than that as there were folks we wanted to catch up to but simply couldn’t make schedules work.  So don’t worry, there is plenty more content still to come from SHOT Show.

Today we are going to speak with one of the modern defining forces in defensive shooting instruction.  Rob Pincus of ICE Training has a pretty busy schedule and we appreciate him taking the time to sit down and chat.

It has been a bit since I reviewed the Executive Ice Scraper.  I have had a little bit of additional experience with the item that I wanted to bring you up to speed with.  Rick, one of the early and faithful listeners, originally turned me on to the ice scraper.  I was a bit skeptical at first, but since, I have found a place for the Scraper in my EDC.  Today we will talk about how I have been carrying and using the scraper.

0238 – Using your Smart Phone to Lead a Safer Life

I recently upgraded from a Blackberry to an iPhone 4. After day 4 I commented to people that I had accomplished more work in four days on the iPhone than I had in 4 years with the Blackberry. I still don’t think its an exaggeration. The iPhone is a fabulous small computer. I don’t think it is wise to become completely dependent on an electronic device, however, lets face it, there is no reason that we should avoid taking advantage of the versatility and convienince that the current smartphones can offer us. Today we will take a look at the way smart phones can help to keep us safe.
