In the past few episodes we have been discussing how it is that we can choose the Best Defensive Firearms.

We know that handguns have some advantages over other firearms because of their size, their portability, their capacity, and the ability of the shooter to manage recoil.

These advantages apply to handguns as home defense tools as we discussed in episode 0330 but the advantages of the handgun can be even more important when we discuss Concealed Carry Handguns.

0279 – What is a Professional Defensive Shooting Instructor?

I work very hard to be the best, most professional instructor that I can be and it is a process of continual growth and effort.  The problem is that professional means something different to each person out there.  There is a movement to make the definition a bit more concrete.  I am pleased that the industry in moving in the direction of self-regulation as this will provide more opportunity to provide input from within the industry as opposed to from the outside.  Today we will talk about one portion of that movement and what it means to me.

0274 – 5 Reasons I Don’t Carry a .40 Smith and Wesson

Have you ever read an internet thread debating caliber.  I have.  They tend to degrade rather quickly to gun urban myth and bs.  I have to be honest however.  There are a lot of reasons why we should look at the caliber we choose in defensive firearms.  I had some great caliber related questions in and following a class I taught this past weekend and I thought I would put some of the ideas that I find helpful in a podcast today.  The circumstances in your life might be completely different and my decision might not work for you, but that isn’t the point.  The point is to understand the thinking process I used when I decided to stop carrying .40 S&W.
