0306 – An Honest Look at the Arms Trade Treaty

Today’s podcast is not the typical stuff that I get involved with but it ties into yesterdays podcast where I talked about the infighting that takes place in the gun world.  Yesterday’s podcast coincides with an interesting debate on Open Carry vs. Concealed Carry.   In the first two comments on the Facebook posting the argument degraded to insults.  Same on Youtube.  Craziness when we look at the fact taht a company like Crossbreed has stepped forward to start a new gun related TV show to reach out to the public and especially crazy when we compare it to the topic we look at today.

The Arms Trade Treaty commonly referred to as the U.N. Small Arms Treaty is a looming issue that we need to wrap our heads around.  There is a lot of hype out there about the treaty and what it means.  Today we are going to sort it out the best we can for now!

0268 – Interview with Zach of Helix Arms

Today we wrap up our official SHOT Show coverage for 2012. Keep in mind that there will be more information continuing to come from SHOT Show as we have guns and gear on the way from manufacturers for testing and evaluation. In addition, we forged relationships at the show that will continue to be important throughout the year.

Today’s show showcases the kinds of connections we can make at a gig like SHOT. Today we will talk with Zach of Helix Arms. We got a chance to press palms with Zach for the first time at SHOT and there has been nothing but shenanigans since.

HandsFree Video

I had a chance to tinker with a set of Hands Free Video Glasses yesterday at the HandsFree Video/Afton Arms booth #3620 at SHOT Show. The video quality is great but I have to say I am most impressed with the audio quality. I have been shooting video all week and have struggled to process the video for quality audio. I didn’t touch the audio on this video and it is great! Take a look here:

You can expect to see a lot of videos coming up using the HandsFree Video Glasses.

0257 – World Champion Max Michel

The shooting community as a whole is a wonderful bunch of people. there is an old gunism that states that an armed society is a polite society. I’m not sure which came first, the chicken or the egg, and it is quite possible that the kindness and the guns have nothing to do with each other. The fact remains that the group of people assembled here in Las Vegas for SHOT Show simply make me smile. Today,World Champion Speed Shooter Max Michel was kind enough to sit down with me and chat competition, combat and guns. We both stood up a few minutes later with smiles on our faces. I hope you enjoy the interview as much as we did!

0247 – Dealing with Christmas Scum

Disclaimer – No promises today on cleanliness of language or attitude, just good personal content.

For a while we have been planning a trip down to Florida between Christmas and New Years.  My in-laws live in Florida and have plenty of room and the pool, beach and sunshine provide plenty of distraction from the winter gloom of Cleveland.  Since they were up in Cleveland for the holiday we all were on the same flight so traveling with the kids would be super easy.

We got word about 12 hours before we hopped a jet down south that there were going to be some additional distractions.  A repairman had notified my FIL that there were several broken windows in the rear of the house.  We didn’t have much more info than that.  The police were called and we finished packing up.  Last week I talked about dealing with Christmas trash, the kind that results from all the girts under the tree.  Today I am talking about dealing with the Christmas trash that has two legs.
