0289 – Caracal F 9mm Striker Fired Pistol Range Trip with Stoppages

As many of you know there was a good bit of excitement at SHOT Show 2012 regarding the Caracal F. This pistol was imported in 2008 or 9 for a short time and Caracal has established Caracal USA to jump start the US market. the Pistol was billed as a simple, reliable 9mm striker fired gun that can run with the big boys. That is a pretty bold statement and there are lots of folks, myself included who are interested in finding out if the statement holds up. This past weekend I took the Caracal with me on a trip to the range to keep working toward the answer.

Today we wrap up our official SHOT Show coverage for 2012. Keep in mind that there will be more information continuing to come from SHOT Show as we have guns and gear on the way from manufacturers for testing and evaluation. In addition, we forged relationships at the show that will continue to be important throughout the year.

9mm v .45. Glock v 1911. AR v AK. All pretty famous gunnisms. All arguments that I try to stay away from. For most of us it really doesn’t matter. If it does matter, you probably know the answer to the debate for you and what does it matter beyond that. Well one of the arguments that has really started to brew in the past few years is the DI v piston driven AR. I think to a great degree it stems from the AR v AK argument. Some folks feel that the piston AR gives folks the ability to say “Both!” to the AR v AK question. Today we are going to talk with Stacey Nagey from Primary Weapons Systems. PWS is a maker of premium piston guns and Stacey is going to give us his view on the situation. Tune in and learn.

At the request of some listeners we are going to step out of chronological order and bring to you the last interview I conducted in Vegas at SHOT Show 2012. I have at least 5 interviews still to come, and probably more than that as there were folks we wanted to catch up to but simply couldn’t make schedules work. SHOT Show Media Day Magnum Research MLR-22AT

There are few calibers as versitile as the .22lr and of the .22 platforms out there there are none that can compare to the Ruger 10/22 for ease of operation, customization and available accessories. The traditional method of building an accurized 10/22 can be a fun and educational process. At the same time it can be expensive. Magnum Research has a new, light weight and accurate 10/22 clone that can save you ounces, time and money.

We originally heard about the MLR-22AT from Richard over at BlueSheepdog.com. We couldnt pass up the opportunity to learn a little bit more about this handy little rifle.
