When it comes to the AR-15 platform, I am a big fan of the DI guns. The AR has a reputation of being a finicky and dirty rifle that at times can be truthful but is often overblown in this proven system. So with very few exceptions when folks ask me my opinion about the AR I talk about DI. As with anything else, there are exceptions. Today we are going to hear about an exception. The Adcor Defense BEAR. The BEAR’s designer Mike Brown is going to talk to us about Adcor, AR-15′s, Pistons, the BEAR and the depth that his rifle and Adcor bring to the table.

0289 – Caracal F 9mm Striker Fired Pistol Range Trip with Stoppages

As many of you know there was a good bit of excitement at SHOT Show 2012 regarding the Caracal F. This pistol was imported in 2008 or 9 for a short time and Caracal has established Caracal USA to jump start the US market. the Pistol was billed as a simple, reliable 9mm striker fired gun that can run with the big boys. That is a pretty bold statement and there are lots of folks, myself included who are interested in finding out if the statement holds up. This past weekend I took the Caracal with me on a trip to the range to keep working toward the answer.

0277 – First Shots with the Caracal F 9mm

So, I’m on vacation. We got in early in morning and as soon as I woke up I headed to the range to run a couple hundred rounds through my new pistol at a local indoor range. My intent was just to get to know the pistol a little bit. Holding it and pointing it can only tell you so much. Guns are meant to be shot and so I took my new Caracal F to the range to play. I wasn’t looking to accomplish anything other than get to know this pistol a little bit better and formulate some sort of a plan for how will proceed with the testing and evaluation. What I had, was a bunch of fun!

Today we wrap up our official SHOT Show coverage for 2012. Keep in mind that there will be more information continuing to come from SHOT Show as we have guns and gear on the way from manufacturers for testing and evaluation. In addition, we forged relationships at the show that will continue to be important throughout the year.

Today’s show showcases the kinds of connections we can make at a gig like SHOT. Today we will talk with Zach of Helix Arms. We got a chance to press palms with Zach for the first time at SHOT and there has been nothing but shenanigans since.
